Is Tough Mudder a race?

Tough Mudder is not a race. A Tough Mudder event is a personal challenge with the goal of overcoming obstacles and completing the course. This is why we do not time people and why we try to avoid using the word "race" when describing our events. This is a critical tenet of our philosophy and our pledge.
